Testimonials
“Well done. These students have a lot of skill. It is remarkable to see the amount of work that went into their presentations. We would love to be part of next years’ event.”
-Strat Kane, VP Market Development, Molson Canada
"The Trumped Competition was the best team building experience I've had inside or outside of university. Closely working with companies gave me the opportunity to strengthen my business skills and learn through decision making. Trumped throws you into real life situations where the competition is fierce, ideas are needed and you have to use your full potential to come out on top."
-Warren Stevens, 2008 Trumped Participant
“I was starting a new business, and I came to A.C.E and talked to them to see if they could be of any help promoting it and it turns out I was able to get involved in the Trumped competition; with doing that we got a group of students involved in helping promote the business. They were all really excited and enthusiastic; So much so, we ended up getting a Cease and desist letter from the university because there were so many promotions around it. And In the end it was great for the business, great for the students, I learned a lot and I think they learned a lot.”
-Duncan Enman, CanStock Photo/ Project Manager - 2009 World Sailing championships
“I cannot stress how important sponsors are to the success of this competition. Without the support, direction and guidance from our sponsors, the process of recruiting top notch business students would be impossible. Our sponsors support is the key ingredient in making this event as successful as it is year in and year out. Providing students with a real world scenario enables student to gain vital experience that they cannot receive in a classroom.”
-Adam Ouimet, Trumped 2008 Project Manager
“The Trumped Competition was awesome; it has taught me a lot and it has taught me how to present in large groups. I recommend it for everyone, it was a great experience.”
-Peter Panai , 2008 Trumped Participant
“Trumped is a blast. It’s fun, it creates leaders, it’s well organized, dozens of teams participate and a lot of value is produced. Teams find the competitive element to be very energizing and everyone is hyper-excited as the event counts down. Some students have even hired through their association with the sponsors and executives associated with Trumped. And if that isn’t enough, you participate in making someone’s life better by helping with cancer research and funding. Sweet.”
-Dr. Ellen Farrell, Sobey School of Business
“I had the pleasure of working with the Leah and the committee of the Trumped competition this past February. It was an amazing experience for someone like myself to work with such committed and dedicated students who in the matter of 12 days raised a total of $19 000+ in the fight against cancer. I represent the Canadian Cancer society and our portion of that was just a little over $9000, which for us is incredible. When you look at the grand scheme of things, of all the fundraisers I do of this type, this will probably be in the top five single ranking fundraisers for us. This means an amazing accomplishment not only for us, but what they have done for Nova Scotians and Canada.”
-Julian Marentette, Revenue Development Coordinator - Canadian Cancer Society
“It’s certainly been a learning experience. We have had a real good time doing it and we’ve learned more from this competition by applying what we have learned in classes here at Saint Mary’s. It has been fantastic.”
- Ryan Mackenzie, Trumped Participant
